I love Riley Murphy’s Surrender series and Required Surrender is no exception. I’ve waited for Jo and Ted’s story since their intro in the last book. It was clear that Jo was going to be a quite a challenge. The story builds piece by piece until you have the full picture. The scenes are incredibly sensual and erotic but that’s not their strong point. It’s the rapport between Jo and Ted that truly moved me. The running dialogue is so well written that I was more caught up in the emotion than the sex. That doesn’t happen often. There are some very tense moments and some very serious subjects broached in this book. Jo and Ted are both damaged by their pasts and that damage colors their world. I found myself very caught up in the story and very invested in the relationship between Jo and Ted. The writing is wonderful and the author paints a very detailed scene with her just her words. Fascinating characters, steamy sex, creative kink and strong emotion combine to make for another winner from Ms. Murphy. Can’t wait for the next one.

*fans self* *glugs ice water* *fans self moar* I loved all three Surrender books, but I think this is my favorite (and that’s saying something, because Colin from book two one of my favorite heroines ever and I didn’t think I would even love a couple more than her and Ethan!) These two just have so much push and pull and thick tension that I couldn’t stop reading. It was like being caught in a web. So, anyhow, if you like BDSM for realz, I would be very surprised if this didn’t land on your “Favorites” shelf.

With all of the things in the world you can’t count on these days Riley Murphy’s books are not one of them. Required Surrender is a top ten book. All of her books are right up there with my favorites. They aren’t the short novella size, 308 pages. You get to see the characters, and the story develop. Yes it is full of mind blowing bdsm sex scenes, but it has a romantic love story all the way through it. The sex in this book is original, intense, and very explicit. I was frustrated that Jo didn’t catch on to Ted’s short comings sooner. She was young, and inexperienced so it was understandable. I wasn’t expecting to have to think much with this kind of book, but I was wrong. Riley goes into detail to explain some of the bdsm concepts. I may have to re-read it to fully understand those insights. The only two things I didn’t like about this book was that it ended, and because it sets the bar so high it’s hard to find a book that is as satisfying. Six months till the next one? ugh!!!
